Abstract
I obtained this document from a Czech scholar, Truda Vlodicka. Although it appears to date from the 1930s, she explained that the text only came to light recently when the Czech authorities opened the archives of the Prager Tageblatt, Prague's German-language daily paper, which ceased publication under the Communist regime, and did not appear again until 1991. It records the results of one, or perhaps several, interviews with Dr Tremi, who was a colleague of Franz Kafka. It never appeared in the Prager Tageblatt, perhaps because Kafka was not so well known in the 1930s or perhaps simply because it was too long. It appears here for the first time. Truda Vlodicka translated it herself from the original German, but as her use of English was sometimes idiosyncratic I have refined the translation at several points, besides adding a few footnotes.
