Abstract

FRANgOIS VILLON was born virtually an English citizen, or rather a citizen of the combined nations of England and France. For while the Dauphin Charles was attempting to establish himself south of the Loire, Henry VI of England had enacted in 1422 the following scene in Paris establishing the authority of both his seal and his coinage, an authority which was to remain unchallenged in the city until 1436.
