Abstract
Frank Hardy's famous novel Power Without Glory was printed and published secretly in Melbourne in 1950. The subsequent legal battle, in which Hardy was eventually acquitted of the charge of criminal libel, rivals the Em Malley hoax and the Demidenko affair as Australia's greatest cause celebre.
