Abstract
AbstractIn his chapter on painting in oil from El Arte de la Pintura, 1649, Francisco Pacheco describes the preparation of walls, panels and canvas for oil painting; a range of pigments and their properties are discussed and after outlining the ‘best’ methods for applying paint, Pacheco offers a few comments on the restoration of paintings.
