Abstract
This essay briefly examines the kinds of terrorism that have occurred in France in the past 20 years and the recent domestic and international measures taken to combat them. Domestically, countermeasures include legislative and procedural changes and reorganization of police structures and operations. On the international level, increased co‐operation has taken place in the areas of legal conventions, diplomatic initiatives and policing.
