Abstract
The first challenging step of the demodulation of DVB-S2 signal is frame synchronization. To the best of our knowledge, the existing synchronization methods are all focus on the physical layer header. In this paper, we propose a first-ever frame synchronization method based on the scrambling sequence. Because the scrambling sequence is much longer than physical layer header, the proposed method can have a better performance. Firstly, we present the frame structure of DVB-S2 and the base-band scrambling process. Secondly, we analyse the statistical bias of physical layer frame. Finally, the scrambling sequence based synchronization method is proposed. This method doesn't need the physical layer header and has a good synchronization performance under low SNR.
