Abstract

In the past years, the frame sawing of stone was studied at the Institute of Cutting Technology, Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg, cooperated with Winter Diamond Tools GmbH & Co. and Guangdong University of Technology. The kinematic basis of frame sawing process was provided in order to analyze the load of diamond segments and diamond grits. The removal mechanism of stone in frame sawing was revealed by means of the cutting tests with single point cutting tool and single diamond segment. The practical data of cut ting force and segment wear were obtained in a horizontal frame sawing machine with multi-blades. The te st methods to simulate the frame sawing process in laboratory were developed in a model ma chine by a blade with three segments. Software was programmed to simulate the sawing process and optimize the sawing parameters and diamond blades.
