Abstract

The ionic dissociation of formic acid has been investigated using photoelectron-photoion coincidence spectroscopy. Both the breakdown diagram and the ion kinetic energy distribution reveal that new channels leading to HCO + formation are open in the fourth and fifth photoelection bands. These decompositions are state specific rather than statistical.
