Abstract

ABSTRACT In this work the production testing techniques used for fractured reservoir identification and characterization are presented. For the sake of technical synergy a brief summary is given in open hole logs techniques used for fractured reservoir detection. The evaluation of different types of production tests conducted in these reservoirs is explained using field data examples. It is also presented as a special case the solution for the pressure behaviour of a well completed in a reservoir where in natural fractures occur over a limited area around the wellbore. A new set of types curves are presented that are quite resolutive for fractured reservoir identification specially for the diagnostic of the flow regime associated to the interporosity transient behavior that is so important for reserves estimation. Also included are the regression methods applied to these systems. As a main conclusion derived from this work is that a combined approach between geology and reservoir engineering is needed for a proper evaluation of these systems.
