Abstract
The appearance of fracture shapes, analogous to fractures in the shape of a "Chinese lantern" in rectangular plates has been discussed, the compression of which is accompanied by cracking. It has been shown that one or two cracks can appear when rectangular hinged plates are subjected to compression. An arbitrary number of cracks can be formed when a cylindrical shell is subjected to compression.
