Abstract

A biskyrmion is a conjoined form of two bound skyrmions possessing a total topological charge of 2. Here, by considering a frustrated two-dimensional ferromagnet, we explore a process that allows for splitting biskyrmions into single skyrmions using spin wave excitations, i.e. magnons. Each resultant skyrmion has a topological charge of 1, and they propagate from one another in opposing directions. Furthermore, we investigate both Bloch and Néel types of biskyrmions and find that they exhibit similar splitting processes.
