Abstract

Topological defects are investigated in the framework of quantum gravity models based on the hypothesis of an effective fractal dimension of the Universe. From a minimal coupling procedure, the tools of fractional calculus are used to determine the geometry associated to a fractional cosmic string. Several results for the propagation of light are discussed, notably the light-deviation angle due to the defect and the geodesics of light.
