Abstract

A model is proposed to analyze the random fluctuations of the pinning potentials within the multifractal approach. The analysis is applied to calculate the fractal dimension of an attractor characterizing the chaotic motions of the flux lines in polycrystalline sintered pellets and epitaxial superconducting YBCO thin films. The model provides an evidence that the complex evolution of the I–V isotherms measured near the superconducting transition is due to the random motions of the vortex lattice which have an intricate multifractal structure.
