Abstract

A planar Super Wide Band (SWB) multiple-inputmultiple-output (MIMO) antenna is presented for application in THz frequency spectrum. The physical size of this MIMO antenna system is 110μm×40μm which is relatively smaller than the other reported SWB MIMO antennas for THz frequency region. This SWB MIMO antenna consists of two coplanar waveguide (CPW) fed half elliptical patch antenna elements on which different fractal geometries have been suitably applied to obtain bandwidth enhancement and better isolation between those antenna elements. The proposed design exhibits an impedance bandwidth (S 11 ≤-10dB) from 0.8THz to 10THz (ratio impedance bandwidth 12.5:1) with an isolation more than 20dB. A stable radiation characteristics with sufficient amount of gain is also observed. The value of envelop correlation coefficient (ECC), diversity gain are also within acceptable limit over the entire THz frequency of operation.
