Abstract

In this paper, we show how the generalized self-similarity model introduced by Cabrelli et al. in [1] can be used for the coding and reconstruction of digital signals and images. We also prove how the block-coding techniques introduced by Jacquin [2] for measures fit naturally into this functional model allowing us to take advantage of local redundancy of the images, as well as to fully automate the encoding and decoding process.
