Abstract

Based on the signal-noise subspace theory, a method of low-rank channel estimation for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is presented in this paper. The theory of low-rank linear estimation based on Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) in minimum mean-squared error (LMMSE) estimators has been analyzed. A new rank-choose criterion for low-rank approximation is raised. The algorithm’s simplification is illustrated by the calculation complexity analysis, and its good performance is presented by the MATLAB simulation. The implementation method of SVD of OFDM channel vector auto-correlation matrix in FPGA is given. The simulation results for the FPGA implementation should identify the feasibility of the design.
