Abstract

To increase the capacity of optical communication system, Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) is a good method to be implemented. The major type of nonlinearity in the DWDM systems is Four Wave Mixing (FWM). In this paper, the suppression of FWM is discussed, in which two methods are combined. A comparison is done for both fiber with and without dispersion variation and investigated the changes in FWM products for various values of input power. A fiber with lengths up to 50 km is considered. Simulations are done for an 8 channel, 10 Gbps per channel, system.
