Abstract
A focus group identified a need for education in the immediate postpartum period. When surveying our organization’s Breastfeeding Support Group, more than 90% of participants said they wished they had a prenatal class focused on the postpartum period. With maternal morbidity and mortality rates remaining high and increasing reports of mental health support needed in the postpartum period, targeted education for this specific life event is necessary.
