Abstract

The results of an infrared (IR) and Raman spectroscopic study are presented for two new di(3-chloro-4-methylaniline) metal tetracyanonickelate complexes, ML 2Ni(CN) 4 and an IR spectroscopic study are given for two new metal chloride complexes, ML 2Cl 2 (M=Cd(II) or Ni(II); L=3-chloro-4-methylaniline). The proposed structure of tetracyanonickelate complexes consists of polymeric layers of |M–Ni(CN) 4| ∞ with the 3-chloro-4-methylaniline molecules bound directly to metal (M). The effective magnetic moments of the complexes are also given.
