Abstract

High resolution emission spectra of ZnD have been recorded in the 18000–27000cm−1 region using a Fourier transform spectrometer, and two electronic transitions have been observed. The A2Π→X2Σ+ data span the v″=0 to 6 levels of the X2Σ+ ground state, and the v′=0 to 3 levels of the A2Π state. In the B2Σ+→X2Σ+ transition, the v′=0 progression was observed for the first time, including the 0–4, 0–5, 0–6 and 0–7 bands. Local perturbations were observed between the v′=0 levels of the B2Σ+ state and the v′=2 and 3 levels of the A2Π state. Spectroscopic constants were determined for the X2Σ+, A2Π and B2Σ+ states of 64ZnD from rotational analysis of the data. The equilibrium ZnD bond distances (re) have been determined to be of 1.51176(1) and 2.26714(1)Å, for the A2Π and B2Σ+ states, respectively.
