Abstract
The ultrastructure of chromatin fibers obtained from the sea cucumber Holothuria tubulosa is studied by optical diffraction and by Fourier analysis of digitalized micrographs. A periodicity of about 39 nm is detected along chromatin fibers. Three regions of about 13 nm are present in every period, which may correspond to groups of nucleosomes organized as discs.
