Abstract
By introducing the different solvent molecules to remain the same coordination atoms, complexes [Dy2(acac)2L2(CH3OH)2] (1), and [Ln2(acac)2L2(H2O)2] (Ln = Tb (2), Ho (3), Er (4)) (acac = acetylacetonate, H2L = 2-[(isonicotinic acid hydrazide)-methyl]-8-hydroxy-quinoline), based on 8-hydroxyquinoline Schiff base have been constructed and characterized. LnIII ions of 1–4 exist in 8-coordinated triangular dodecahedron geometry, and magnetic studies show that 1 exhibits the slow magnetic relaxation behavior with the fast quantum tunneling of magnetization (QTM) at zero dc field. In addition, the luminescence properties of 1 and 2 show the characteristic emissions of LnIII ions.
