Abstract

The symmetry of coupled oscillator circuits consisting of two identical oscillators coupled by nonlinear inductors is studied. It is shown that the symmetry is a two-dimensional representation of the dihedral group D4. Despite the use of two coupled oscillators, an oscillation corresponding to a four-phase solution can be generated. This is confirmed by numerical experiments using the theoretical values and numerical integration of a weakly nonlinear system using symmetry. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
