Abstract

ABSTRACT Existing research supports that communication failures is an influential factor in specific disciplines of health care administration. Furthermore, poor communication leads to adverse events that might compromise patient care or result in mortalities. Drawing from the primary author's decade of experience in the health care industry and current literature, this article introduces a conceptual model that health care leaders, managers, administrators, supervisors, and other personnel can use to improve communication channels in the field of health care. As a former administrator, the author has witnessed numerous incidences in which adverse and sentinel events occurred because of ineffective communication.
