Abstract

A detailed discussion of a type of four-component superposition of squeezed displaced Fock states (SDFSs) is presented. These states, often called Schrödinger cat states for the coherent states, are of great interest at present. The s-parameterized characteristic function (CF) and the quasi-probability distribution functions (QDFs) of these states are calculated. The non-classical properties of these states such as photon number distribution and squeezing are discussed. The quadrature distributions are illustrated. The Pegg–Barnet phase distribution is discussed. A generation scheme is proposed for these states.
