Abstract

One of my mentors at the University of Chicago, James Gustafson, held that there are four questions that we should be asking ourselves about our own lives and the lives of those we work and live with. While not necessarily the sorts of topics someone would address if they were pursuing success in the usual sense – how to build wealth, acquire power, or accumulate honors – they are just the sorts of questions we need to ponder if we want to live authentically and make meaningful contributions to the lives of others.
