Abstract
Lectures are generally used to teach new knowledge and skills, promote reflection, and stimulate further work and learning. Some advantages of lectures are that they are straightforward, efficient, and can be recorded and recycled. As evidenced by more than 5300 attendees in more than 29 countries during 2019, the SEG Distinguished Lecture, Honorary Lecture, and Virtual Near Surface Global Lecture programs are considered to be some of the most effective outreach programs for the Society.
