Abstract
The foundation course in cardiology is a three day comprehensive programme of the fundamentals in cardiac practice, delivered primarily by consultant cardiologists. Coverage ranges from assessing clinical trials and interacting with the cardiology industry, to practising transthoracic echocardiology and intra-aortic balloon pump insertion. Cardiology registrars in the early years of training and core medical trainees intending to pursue a career in cardiology. The course is delivered through a series of lectures, practical workshops, live patient case demonstrations, and interactive cases. Material presented during lectures is consolidated and applied directly to clinical practice through live demonstrations and hands on training. ### Lectures
