Rancière, os autores apresentam uma síntese das trajetórias teóricas e os principais conceitos destes pensadores, fundamentais na filosofia política contemporânea. São trabalhadas concordâncias e particularidades em suas obras, sobretudo no que diz respeito às possibilidades de emancipação dos indivíduos diante do poder.
