Abstract

The aim of this article is to bring the photographs together that touch upon the metaphorical relation of wall and human including the image of wall in their compositions. Even though the image of a wall has been used as a subject in movies, art, sculpture, photography, caricature, architecture, literature, performance arts and shows as concrete or abstract content, this article is limited to and focuses on the art of photography only. Photographs from all around the world are included and photographs from Turkey and North Cyprus are used distinctively. The image of a wall is considered to be invisible, but can be sensed, and it is the phenomenological correspondence of emotions, the manner of use from other disciplines throughout the history, which brings out the significance of the subject. The information for this article is gathered through literature research and context analysis method. Whether it is straightforward or not, the meaning, expression, expression method, technical approach that has been imposed on the image of a wall have been analyzed and interpreted. The data has been chronologically categorized into Straight photograph and Surreal photograph.
