Regarding their criticism of diagnostic tests, should there be fuller disclosure on the question of “whether a test provides health benefits that are worth their cost?”Positive test results can save lives, so should critics of tests consider cost and also disclose what they estimate to be the value of lives saved?In many cases, negative test results reduce worry and increase quality of life.
