Abstract

A response to a comment by Gawlik on our theory of forward scattering of resonant laser light published in Phys. Lett. 88A (1982) 453 is given. We insist that a distinction must be made between the stimulated Hanle effect and that effect as observed in fluorescence, contrary to his original interpretation. The perturbation theory of the non-linear resonant Faraday effect which we presented does give a full account of the observed phenomena.
