Abstract

We present the first uniform interpretation of the complete reflection seismic data set of the onshore and offshore Lusitanian basin (West Iberian margin). The opening of the North Atlantic ocean is recorded in the Lusitanian basin by successive stages of rifting and tectonic quiescence during the Mesozoic, the timing of which is constrained from detailed mapping of the seismic data set.
