Abstract
Private lessons are increasing in Germany. What about the quality and evaluation of educational conceptions of private lesson institutes? Analyzing 7 components of the conceptions: Single or group instruction, qualified teachers, cooperation with the school teachers, care of homework, special offers and course periods. The teachers of private lesson institutes do not need to prove their qualification towards the state. For example they do not need a complete educational training. Because of a high change of the teachers the instruction is not continual. There is principal group instruction with 5 pupils for 90 minutes. The single pupil is available only 18 minutes. This time must be enough to recognize gaps, to ask for homework, to motivate and to give exercises. Which legal conditions apply to the drafts? A trade license is enough to found a privat lesson institute. They are free of certain taxes. Since 1971 the legal conditions have not been changed. Finally this article includes a critical total view.
