Abstract

We present a heuristic approach to formulate physical fields from systems of first order linear partial differential equations by considering the symmetric and antisymmetric properties of the matrices that represent the systems of equations. Particularly, we show that Maxwell and Dirac fields can be established by imposing different types of symmetric and antisymmetric conditions on their associated representing matrices.
