Abstract

Herbal shampoos are cosmetics made up of traditional ayurvedic herbs used for cleaning the hair, and scalp as that regular shampoo. The aim of the present study is to formulate a polyherbal-spirulina based conditioning and antioxidant shampoo and to assess its physiochemical function that emphasizes safety, efficacy, elimination of harmful chemical ingredients, and substitution with safe natural ingredients in different proportions. Evaluation of physicochemical properties, antioxidant activity, and toxicity analysis of herbal and spirulina based shampoo done based on parameters of physicochemical properties such as visual inspection, pH, wetting time, % of solid contents, foam volume, and stability, dirt dispersion, and conditioning performance was performed. The formulated shampoo was clear, attractive, and appealing. It showed good cleansing and detergency, good foam stability, and excellent conditioning performance.
