Abstract

The purpose of this research work was to develop mouth dissolving tablets of Meclizine HCL by superdisintegrant addition and sublimation method. Meclizine HCl is an anti‐emetic drug used for management of dyspepsia, heartburn, epigastric pain,nausea, and vomiting. Sodium starch glycolate was used as super disintregrant and camphor used for enhancement of porosity of the tablets Disintegration time of tablets prepared by superdisintegrant addition were significantly less (P 0.05) and were found to have good physical integrity. Stability studies showed that the physical and chemical properties of the tested tablets were not altered significantly and all the test formulations were found to be stable.The dissolution profile of fresh and aged Meclizine HCl. MDT showed no significant effect on drug release (P > 0.05).
