Abstract
The total γ ∗γ ∗ cross-section is computed at leading order in the QCD dipole picture [1] of BFKL dynamics [2]. The opportunity to observe BFKL effects in γ ∗γ ∗ collisions is evaluated by comparing the results with the two-gluon exchange cross-section, in a kinematic domain where DGLAP resummation effects are expected to be small. Corrections from higher orders to the BFKL resummation result are estimated in a phenomenological way, and are found to reduce the cross-section drastically, complicating the experimental detection. Numerical values are given at LEP2 energies, and at a future high energy linear collider.
