Abstract

We investigate the 40Ca(d, α 0, 1, 2, 4) 38K reactions for E d = 4.00–4.61 MeV. The α 1 and α 4 transitions are isospin forbidden. The resonant-like structures observed in the α 0, α 1, α 2, and α 4 transitions are consistent with Ericson theory. In addition we can fit a portion of the α 1, data with a few interfering Breit-Wigner resonances. The level parameters for the corresponding 42Sc levels are given.
