Abstract
One of the most important factors in ensuring that young school pupils are successfully inculcated with the ability to learn independently is the systematic organization of their teaching and development. But this factor becomes effective only under certain conditions: each form of organization of the teaching process must have its own didactic content and must supplement other forms, thus ensuring that the whole system will have the appropriate impact on the pupil's learning and development. In the conventional general education school, this system in the primary grades 1-3 is represented by two basic organizational forms: lessons and homework. Let us examine each from the standpoint of its didactic purpose and the type of activity carried out by the teacher and the pupil.
