Abstract
Within the framework of Biological Monitoring, the excretion of formic acid in urine indicates the degree of exposure of collectives to methanol, chlorinated methans and formaldehyde. The excretion of formic-acid in urine must be regarded as a relative problematic parameter of Biological Monitoring, because formic-acid is not only produced to a considerable extent by the break-down of substances with unstable methyl-groups and through the degredation of aminoacids but is also acquired to a considerable extent from food.
