Abstract

The mechanisms of polycondensation reactions of tetraisopropylorthotitanate with orthoboric acid in pyridine at 60°C have been studied by 1H and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The differences resulting from variations in the boric acid/ alkoxide ratio in pyridine are discussed and a transfer of the alkyl groups from alkoxide to boric acid is evidenced by spectroscopic investigations.
