Abstract

The titanium nitride (TiN) coatings were formed by means of a reactive spraying using the gas tunnel type plasma jet in a short time operation. In this study, the fundamental characteristics of this method were investigated by measuring the properties of the TiN coatings formed on a traverse stainless steel substrate. Consequently, TiN coatings of 150 μm thickness were obtained at P=25 kW, t=5 s, and some coating properties were discussed.
