Abstract

The mechanism of the reaction between thallium(I) selenide and germanium(IV) selenide powders in the Tl2Se-GeSe2 system has been studied by differential thermal analysis and quantitative X-ray diffraction. The results indicate that all of the ternary compounds in the Tl2Se-GeSe2 system are formed through Tl4GeSe4 and Tl2Ge2Se5, independent of the starting mixture composition.
