Abstract

In this study, we present the formation of silver (Ag) nanowires, nanoshells and nanorods by the thermal reduction of an aqueous silver nitrate solution on the surface of magnesium zinc oxide (MgxZn1−xO) multiphase alloy thin films. MgZnO thin films were grown by the pulsed laser deposition method. The Ag nanowires are characterized by scanning electron microscopy and selective area electron diffraction methods. The microstructure of Ag is found to depend on the crystalline nature and phase of the MgZnO thin films.
