Abstract

Ring chromosomes were formed in the root tip cells ofAllium sativum andA. cepa var.viviparum after treatment with diethyl sulphate and gamma-rays. Both centric and acentric types of ring chromosomes were observed. The behavior of these chromosomes during different stages of somatic cell division is discussed.
