Abstract

LiF and NaF do not form a solid solution in equilibrium at any temperature. I obtained non-equilibrium LiF-NaF solid solution using the pulsed laser deposition (PLD). The target that I used was a sintered compact consisting of a mixture of LiF and NaF powder. The solubility of LiF in NaF in the obtained deposit was determined from the lattice constants measured by X-ray diffraction. The solubility limit was 40%. While the lattice constants obtained at the laser wavelengths of 1064 nm and 355 nm coincided over the entire range of molar fractions investigated, those lattice constants obtained at 266 nm were different.LiF and NaF do not form a solid solution in equilibrium at any temperature.
