Abstract

The formation of mutagenic derivatives from TrpP 1 and TrpP 2 by rat intestinal enzymes was observed in the intestinal S9 fraction in the Ames test. TrpP 2 produced more mutagenic derivatives than TrpP 1. The intestinal mutagenic activation of both tryptophan pyrolysates was preferentially induced by 3-methylcholanthrene.
