Abstract
The resonant vibrational excitation of gaseous iron pentacarbonyl Fe(CO)5 by femtosecond pulsed IR laser radiation is accompanied by the deposition of microcrystals of higher iron carbonyls Fe2(CO)9 and Fe3(CO)12. It is found that microstructured iron-containing films are formed on the surface of the gas-cell windows immediately in the region of laser beam passage. The possible mechanism of film formation is considered.
