Abstract
Melt spinning was used to produce homogeneous, melt-spun ribbons of Yb/sub 1/Ba/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/ and Yb/sub 1/Ba/sub 2/Cu/sub 3/ plus various amounts of Ag. While none of these alloys was completely glassy, they did contain glassy alloy and they were homogeneous. Metallic precursors as long as 12 m were produced; the widths were typically 1 to 2 mm, and the thicknesses ranged from 25 to 170 mu m. The dimensions of the specimens varied with the alloy composition and the processing conditions.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
